Outputting your map for others to print

Purple Pen can output PDFs directly
This is efficient as the files are little larger than the original base map

To create PDFs files of your course(s) in Purple Pen, hover over Create PDFs from the File menu and pick the Courses... option. Do NOT try to use other methods such as printing to the Microsoft Print to PDF printer (or, worse, invent your own method - we have seen JPEGs being provided as map files which don't even have a scale).

You will be asked to pick which courses you want to output. You are unlikely to need the All Controls map, so untick it, but you can leave all other options the same. It is useful to specify a name prefix for the maps just so you can distinguish them from other maps.

You should find that if you look at the sizes of the PDF files that are produced, they are only a little larger than the original base map (depending on how many logos, etc. you have added) and, for an OpenOrienteeringMap PseudO format, this should be not much more than 900K. If your final map files are more than about 1MB in size, you may be doing something wrong.
