Event Type
2 line courses (visit the marked locations in number order).
Short – Straight-line distance 4.6km. Rough running distance 6.5km
Long – Straight-line distance 6.7km. Rough running distance 9.5km
Safety
Competitors under 16 should be accompanied by an adult. If running alone let someone else know of your plans. Consider carrying a mobile phone even if using a watch for navigation. Take care when crossing any road. Nearest A & E is the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Craven Road, Reading RG1 5AN.
Finally note that this is a solo activity and not covered by British Orienteering Event Insurance. All competitors take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety.
Planners Notes
This is mainly a suburban residential area with smaller areas of parkland and woodland. There are some hills so it is worth considering the map contours.
The mapping of the wooded sections is not very detailed. Not all paths are mapped.
Car speeds tend to be low on the minor roads, but may be higher on the wider roads. Please take care when crossing.
Most of this area will be on tarmac with some short sections off-road in the parks. This area tends to be fairly dry so I wouldn’t expect to see too much mud.

Car – 2 hours free parking on Armour Road, RG31 6EX (https://what3words.com/trick.crowds.before) or paid carpark, Recreation Rd, Reading RG30 4UD (https://what3words.com/pushy.couch.latest). £0.60 for 1 hour and £1.20 for 2 hours in the car park.
Cycle – No specific bike park, but probably find somewhere to lock them up in the park
Bus – Reading Buses route 17 from central Reading – The Victoria Pub is the correct stop
Rail – Tilehurst Station is 1.4km from the start.
