Details

Safety:
Competitors under 16 should be accompanied by an adult. If running alone let someone else know of their plans and or travel to the area with a colleague as Covid-19 regulations allow. Consider carrying a mobile phone even if using a watch for navigation. Take care when crossing any road. Nearest A & E is Frimley Park hospital.
The competition area is bounded by B3272 to the north. This is a 30mph road but traffic can be quite fast. There is no need to cross the road but there is pavement along south side which can be used.
Finally note that this is a solo activity and not covered by British Orienteering Event Insurance. All competitors take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety.
Planners Notes:
Yateley is a complex urban area, a mixture of parks and commons mixed with housing estates and developments with smaller areas of woodland.
The area rises slightly from North to South and Yateley common (Mix of scrub and woodland) and some abandoned runways of Blackbushe airport are at the southern end of the area.
Mapping:
Note that the Openstreetmap mapping does not always map as expected to orienteering symbols. The village green and some of the larger parks map as yellow open but may contain trees, hedges or even be as wooded as some of the light green areas. Yateley common is mapped as rough open but is wooded in places.
The path leading south from the library (between the schools) looks to be gated outside school hours so has been marked out of bounds.
Some of the paths on Yateley common are heavily overgron or I couldn't find them. Some of the worst ones are marked as forbidden routes. In any case, there are likely to be many small unampped paths on the common, but the mapped paths generally are the wider or most well used ones.
