Havering and South Essex Orienteering Club (HAVOC) welcomes you to our Shenfield South MapRun event.

Details

All controls sites are fire hydrant display plates which are about A5 size portrait format (15cm x 10cm rectangles). They comprise a large black H on a yellow background. They are mostly at head height attached to a lamp post or other post. Some are lower, attached to walls or fences. A few are sited at 0.5m height on their own, yellow-painted concrete posts. The control descriptions provided on the map and separately as a PDF do not tell you the height of the yellow ‘H’ plate but do tell you precisely where it is in the circle relative to the mapped street and path network, e.g., southern road, SE side.

Parking

Saint Andrew’s Place, Shenfield, Brentwood CM15 8HH. There is Free on-street parking available in this residential road though there is no parking Mon-Fri 10-11am to prevent commuter day-parking. Please park considerately.

60 minute score

This is a Score course which means you should get as many controls as you can within 60 minutes.

There are 30 controls in total. You do not need to get them all and you can visit them in any order.

Controls score different numbers of points:
  • Controls numbered 11 to 20 score 20 points
  • Controls numbered 21 to 30 score 30 points
  • Controls numbered 31 to 40 score 40 points
  • Controls numbered 41 to 50 score 50 points
For each minute or part-minute you are late back, you will lose 10 points. The highest number of points wins. The time you take is used as tie-break.
