Hinchingbrooke Country Park
West Anglian Orienteering Club (WAOC) welcomes you to our Hinchingbrooke Country Park MapRun event. There are 3 courses available.
Details
The 2024 score courses are part of our 2024 summer MapRun league from 10th July until the end of 23rd July. To enter after 10th, please email go@oentry.uk. The score courses are identical, they just have different time limits to fit in with our league.
N.B. the score course maps are larger than A4. The main map is a two-page A4 file where the two halves overlap. You may print it double-sided, or you may print it on two pages and join them using the overlap. Alternatively, there is an A3 single-sided map available if you have the facilities to print it.
You may be able to obtain a printed map from the visitor centre/cafe for the permanent course.
Current status of the permanent course (as of 20th June 2020):
*No plaque at the start/finish
*All posts are present and markers are readable
*Markers are on top of posts, not side
*Posts are shorter than usual, so a bit more prone to undergrowth
*Control 9 is now within the wooded area rather than on the edge, so you'll need to look inside
*It is recommended that control 14 is approached from the North/West rather than from the South/East due to nettles
*Control 13 is within a nettle patch during summer
Parking
There is plenty of parking, but please remember to Pay and Display. Parking is free after 6pm
Course: Hinchingbrooke Score (not MapRun)
Score, no time limit
This course does not use MapRun, so it is not timed and you do not need a phone. At each control site, you will see a red/white coloured plaque with the control number on and a letter. Please write down the letter in the box on your map.
This is a Score course which means you should get as many controls as you can.
There are 15 controls in total. You do not need to get them all and you can visit them in any order.

60 minute score
This is a Score course which means you should get as many controls as you can within 60 minutes.
There are 43 controls in total. You do not need to get them all and you can visit them in any order.
Controls score different numbers of points:- Controls numbered 10 to 19 score 10 points
- Controls numbered 20 to 29 score 20 points
- Controls numbered 30 to 39 score 30 points
- Controls numbered 40 to 49 score 40 points
- Controls numbered 50 to 53 score 50 points

40 minute score
This is a Score course which means you should get as many controls as you can within 40 minutes.
